This download contains the WinXP drivers for the Personal Storage 5000 external hard drive.

In order to assure users that they are using the highest quality drivers, Microsoft will digitally sign drivers that pass the Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL) tests. Drivers submitted to WHQL that pass testing with the final released Windows XP products will be given a Microsoft digital signature. This digital signature will be associated with individual driver packages and will be recognised natively by Windows XP systems.

Instructions

  • Step 1

    Download the ps5000_xp_signed_drivers.exe file from this website. NOTE: It is suggested that you download the file to your system's desktop.

  • Step 2

    Disconnect the Personal Storage 5000 drive from your system. NOTE: This can also be accomplished by using the "Safely Remove Hardware" option located in your System Tray.

  • Step 3

    Double click the "ps5000_xp_signed_drivers.exe" file.

  • Step 4

    Follow the on-screen instructions as prompted.

  • Step 5

    Restart your system for changes to take effect.

  • DOWNLOAD
    Step 6

    Reconnect the Personal Storage unit to your system. It will now use the signed drivers.
