Seagate To Bring Together San Francisco Bay Area Workforce In Its Fremont Facility

FREMONT, Calif. – February 4, 2020 – Seagate Technology plc (NASDAQ: STX), a world leader in data storage and management solutions, today announced that the company is unifying its Bay Area workforce by combining its Cupertino site with its existing Fremont facility. The move to Fremont, which will be completed in May, will enable greater employee collaboration.

Co-locating Consumer Solutions, Systems Solutions, Recording Media Operations, and other functions in a single regional location will result in a unified presence, reflecting the synergy of technical depth and market relevance while also providing economies of scale.

The state-of-the-art 400,000-square-foot Fremont product design center, which Seagate purchased in 2013, is Gold LEED-certified, and features a sustainable, “green” footprint. It offers modern sustainable features including highly efficient fixtures that enable a potable water reduction of 56%, occupancy sensors, optimized HVAC systems, and ENERGY STAR appliances that reduce energy demand. Ninety-four percent of wood-based materials used in the building’s construction are FSC-certified. Low-emitting adhesives and sealants, paints and coatings, flooring systems, systems furniture, and seating are used throughout the site. The building was designed to maximize thermal comfort and offers abundant bicycle storage and onsite employee changing rooms that incentivize alternative modes of transit.
