Ondi Timoner (Producer/Director) has the rare distinction of winning the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival twice. Her 2004 doc, DIG!, explores the collision of art & commerce through the star-crossed rivalry of the Dandy Warhols and the Brian Jonestown Massacre, while her 2009 top prize-winner, WE LIVE IN PUBLIC, examines how willingly we will trade our privacy in the virtual age through the social experiments of Internet visionary, Josh Harris. Both were acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in New York for their permanent collection.

Her other features include The Nature of the Beast (1994), Join Us (2007), and COOL IT (2010). Through A TOTAL DISRUPTION, she releases weekly short docs that document the thought leaders and doers who are driving the greatest revolution in the history of mankind with technology including Reddit’s Alexis Ohanian, Twitter’s Jack Dorsey, and Zappos’ Tony Hsieh among others. She also produces and hosts BYOD (BRING YOUR OWN DOCS). BYOD is the only talk show in the world focused solely on documentaries with an archive of over 100 episodes in which Ondi interviews top doc filmmakers about their work.

"The most important thing to do while interviewing is to listen very, very carefully to what the subject is saying and develop my questions and the flow of the interview based on their interests and passions. Just like in the workspace, members of my team will excel when they work on aspects of the job that excite them, so with my subjects the pearls of wisdom drop in spades when I help them to really dig into their passion."

Ondi loves to use her camera as a bridge to bring herself and the audience deep into worlds they may never otherwise enter. In 2000, Timoner created the original VH-1 series Sound Affects, about music’s effect at critical moments in people’s lives. She has directed commercials and web series for McDonalds, State Farm, Ford, The Army, and others. She has directed films for CNN Heroes, and helmed short films for Honda’s Dream the Impossible series, which premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. She directed the opening film for President Clinton’s birthday/fundraiser concert featuring Steven Spielberg, Barbra Streisand, Jay-Z, and the President himself at the Hollywood Bowl.

Having made dramatic documentaries with strong narratives, Timoner optioned a screenplay about photographer Robert Mapplethorpe for her first “pre-scripted actor film” entitled MAPPLETHORPE. She teamed up with Eliza Dushku in 2009 to produce the film. Timoner took the project through the Sundance Directors, Screenwriters and Producers Labs, and was invited into the Tribeca All-Access Program – receiving grants from both Sundance and Tribeca to develop MAPPLETHORPE, set to shoot in 2014.

"Traveling across the country to document the thought leaders and innovators in the tech world requires gear that can stand up to the demands in the field and transition to the edit studio. Seagate’s product line has the range, flexibility, and speed to support my workflow and deliver the best results wherever I need it."
