Drive Encryption: FIPS Certification

Seagate is the only drive manufacturer in the world with FIPS validation. We offer FIPS 140-2 validated drives for both enterprise and personal computing environments. For more information on FIPS Level 2 validation, please find your drive below and follow the appropriate link. You will need the corresponding FIPS certificate number to find documentation specific to your SED product.

There are two documents you may find helpful once you link to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) website to find the appropriate certificate number:

  • Security policy: This policy explains the environment in which FIPS drives must be maintained in order to remain within the FIPS 140-2 standard
  • Consolidated Validation Certificate: Proof of FIPS 140-2 validation for specific Seagate models
