Application for Seagate Scholarship to CU/CSU Graduating High School Seniors / Incoming Freshmen

 

All applications (and accompanying documents described in the list of criteria below) must be completed and submitted by April 12, 2006...   

About the Scholarship:  Applications are now being accepted for:

  • $2,000 scholarship to be awarded to a limited number of students in the St. Vrain Valley and Boulder Valley School Districts who have applied and been admitted to the colleges of engineering as incoming freshmen at the University of Colorado at Boulder and/or Colorado State University for the Fall 2007/Spring 2008 school year.  

The Criteria:  Students will be selected for the scholarships, based on the following: 

  1. Student must be a high school senior, admitted in a Fall 2007 engineering program at CSU or CU (special attention given to those focused on EE, ME and other areas relevant to storage technology).

  2. Student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, documented on transcripts previously submitted to the university’s office of admissions.

  3. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need, based on information contained in student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), to be sent to the university’s financial aid office.

  4. Student will be evaluated based on his/her community involvement/leadership abilities, as described in this application.

  5. Student must provide a letter of recommendation from a math, science or technology teacher, emailed directly by the teacher, to lco.seagate.scholarship@seagate.com, from the teacher’s school email address (letters from teachers’ home email addresses will not be accepted).

  6. Essay #1 - Student must demonstrate technical innovation and creativity, based on an essay (maximum of 300 words) about past school projects or extracurricular activities related to math/science/technology

  7. Essay #2 - Student must demonstrate a strong desire/commitment to pursue a degree and career in engineering, based on an essay (maximum of 300 words) explaining why the student selected the field of engineering.
