![]() 8.4 GB Limitation 8.4 GB Limitation If your drive is larger than 8.4 GB, the capacity may exceed the INT13 limits of a legacy system BIOS. 386, 486 and early Pentium-class systems BIOSs cannot support ATA drives beyond 8.4 GB large. Pure DOS (non-Windows) operating systems limit the drive capacity to 8.4 GB per physical drive. To achieve full capacity of your drive, you will need add BIOS support for drives greater than 8.4 GB. This support is available by way of the following methods:
