Ang Mo Kio
Seagate started Disc Drive Operations in Singapore in 1982, representing the first volume manufacturing site outside of the United States. In 1997, Seagate Drive Operations was relocated to its current facilities in Ang Mo Kio. The factory spans a total gross floor area of over 1M sq ft. and was designed to accommodate production of today's technology-intensive hard disc drive products, and facilitate the rapid transition to tomorrow's technology advancements. Today, Seagate Ang Mo Kio is responsible for producing all of Seagate’s hard disks for mission critical applications. Science Park

The Science Park Design Center was established in April 1984 to provide automation support for drive manufacturing and is Seagate's only disc-drive design center outside the United States. The team is responsible for the design and development of world-class hard disc drives for the worldwide market. State-of-the-art facilities that include a class 100 clean room, a fully equipped CAD room and an anechoic chamber. Generated over 1200 new inventions, 195 patents and 12 international product releases to date, including:

  • U Series - The most cost-effective drives in the history of the disc drive industry. Won the inaugural 2001 Singapore Innovation Award.
  • C Series - First drives designed specifically for the consumer electronics market. Designed with the full implementation of the Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology from start to finish.
  • S Series - Seagate's and world's first 1-inch drive delivering 5GB capacity and 8GB capacity.
  • P Series - Seagate's first 1.8-inch drive. Offering a 60GB capacity on one platter in a 5mm thick form factor.

Woodlands
RMO Woodlands, established in 1996, was Seagate's first Recording Media Operations (RMO) facility outside of North America. In September 28, 2006 Seagate Technology announced a plan to expand its recording media manufacturing capabilities by setting up its third media plant in Singapore. The new plant will be built close to the company's existing facilities at Woodlands. Today, RMO Woodlands is Seagate’s largest media manufacturing facility.
