Overview:

OT3_EMC_Vista_Update.iso is an ISO image that, when burned to a CD using third-party software, will create an installation CD that can be used to install the Maxtor EasyManage and Retrospect Express HD 2.0 applications to your Windows Vista computer.

OT3_EMC_Vista_Update.zip is a compressed file that when extracted/launched (per the procedures below), will install the Maxtor EasyManage and Retrospect Express HD 2.0 applications to your Windows Vista computer.

Instructions:

Note: This software is for the following OneTouch III Products:

  • OneTouch III Turbo Edition
  • OneTouch III FireWire 800

Make sure that the OneTouch III Turbo Edition/OneTouch III FireWire 800 Drive is disconnected from your system prior to installing this software. You must have Administrator Permissions to install this software on your computer.

Procedure:

The following provides the steps necessary to perform the OneTouch III EMC Vista Update software on your Windows Computer.

For the OT3_EMC_Vista_Update.iso file:

  1. Download the OT3_EMC_Vista_Update.iso file from the Seagate Website to your Windows Vista computer.

  2. Using your third-party CD Burning Software, create the OT3_EMC_Vista_Update installation CD.
    Note: Refer to your CD Burning software’s documentation for the procedure for burning an ISO image to a blank CD.

  3. Once created, eject and reinsert the new, installation CD into your CD/DVD ROM Drive.

  4. Proceed to the Installing the Software section.

For the OT3_EMC_Vista_Update.zip file:

  1. Download the OT3_EMC_Vista_Update.zip file from the Seagate Website to your Windows Vista computer.

  2. Browse to and extract the OT3_EMC_Vista_Update.zip file. This will create an OT3_EMC_Vista_Update folder.

  3. Open the OT3_EMC_Vista_Update folder and double-click on Launch.exe.

  4. Proceed to the Installing the Software section.

Installing the Software

  1. Windows Vista will prompt you with a User Account Control window for the DemoShield Multi – CD Launch (Details paths to the Launch.exe file). Click Continue.

  2. After a few seconds, the Maxtor Select Language screen will open. Select your language (e.g., English) to proceed.

  3. The main menu will appear next. Select Install Software.

  4. The InstallShield welcome screen will open. Click Next.

  5. The License Agreement screen will appear. After reading the License Agreement, click Yes.

  6. The Choose Destination Location screen will appear. In the Destination Folder section of the screen, you can see where the Maxtor software will be installed. If you wish to change this, click Browse and choose a new location. When you are ready, click Next.

  7. The Setup Status window will appear as EasyManage installs to your computer.

  8. The InstallShield Wizard Complete window will appear. Click Finish. The Retrospect Express HD 2.0 InstallShield Wizard will appear automatically.

  9. The Retrospect Express HD welcome screen will appear. Click Next.

  10. The License Agreement screen will appear. After reading the agreement, select “I accept...” and click Next.

  11. The Customer Information screen will appear. Enter your User Name (required), Organization (optional) and click Next.

  12. The Setup Type screen will appear. Choose the Recommended option to install all of the Retrospect Software and click Next.

  13. The Ready to Install screen appears. At this point, Retrospect Express HD 2.0 starts installing to your computer.

  14. Retrospect Express HD will ask if you wish to configure Firewall changes. Click Allow to make the appropriate change to the firewall.

  15. After the software is installed on your computer, the message “InstallShield Wizard Completed” will appear. Click Finish.

  16. A message appears asking you to restart. Follow the on-screen directions to restart your computer.
