Seagate
Working for Seagate in Limavady

What Seagate Does Here
Seagate established operations in Limavady in 1997 to manufacture high quality, super-polished aluminium substrates for use in Seagate hard drives. The plant is the only internal supplier of substrates which are used in a variety of Seagate hard drives such as for desktops, servers and X-boxes. Limavady supplies the Recording Media Operations facilities in Woodlands, Singapore and Milpitas, California with over 200,000 substrates a day. Manufacturing takes place in three distinct steps: grinding, electro-less nickel plating and polishing. Since the plant opened, the production process has benefited from enhanced automation and advanced plating and polishing technologies. With more than 800 employees, the plant continues to make a significant contribution to the social and economic well being of the Limavady area. Address: 99 Dowland Road, Limavady, Co. Londonderry, Northern Ireland, BT49 0HR

Life Here
Limavady is a busy market town with a population of almost 13,000 near the Atlantic coast in County Londonderry, between Londonderry and Coleraine. Situated in the famous Roe Valley with Benevenagh as a backdrop to the town, Limavady is a strikingly beautiful place to live and work. The area is well served by an extensive road network and is easily accessible from the City of Derry Airport, just 10 miles outside of town. If your job with Seagate takes you to the area, the Limavady Borough Council can provide more information about city services and living in the area. You will also want to familiarize yourself with the local housing market.

Weather
Ireland enjoys a temperate climate influenced by the relatively warm waters of the Gulf Stream in whose path the island lies. The coldest and wettest months are December, January and February with temperatures ranging between 4 to 7 degrees Celsius (39 to 44 degrees Fahrenheit). July and August are the warmest months with temperatures ranging from 14 to 20 degrees Celsius (57 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit).

Education
All state schools in Northern Ireland follow the Northern Ireland Curriculum, based on England and Wales' system, and offer a rich complement of studies including music, technology, foreign language and religious education in addition to the core subjects. Although integrated education is increasing, Northern Ireland has a segregated education system with 95% of pupils attending either a maintained or controlled school. Have Fun
Whatever your interest, you'll find plenty of leisure activities for all ages: if you're feeling adventurous go hang-gliding off Benevenagh. For something a little less daring, explore the Limavady area on foot, by bike or on horseback; try birdwatching or swimming at one of many award-winning beaches; or play a round of golf at Radisson Roe Park, an 18-hole parkland course complemented by its own floodlit driving range. To learn more about the town's history, places of interest, and local travel information, check with the Borough of Limavady. For fun things to see and do in the surrounding area, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board is a good place to start.
