The Joy drive uses the USB On-The-Go (USB OTG) specification to communicate with your Android phone or tablet. If your Android device does not support USB OTG, then you will not be able to use the Joy Drive with that device.
The Mobile Toolkit app will warn you if your phone does not support USB OTG when you open the app. You can also look at the manual for your Android device, or the manufacturer's online documentation to see if your device support USB OTG.
