Thunderbolt 5 drives have different compatibility requirements compared to standard USB and Thunderbolt 3 or 4 drives. For LaCie 8big Pro5, please make sure that your device meets the requirements below.
Notes:
- 8big Pro 5 works best when connected to a host computer with a Thunderbolt 5 port.
- Use the Thunderbolt 5 cable provided with 8big Pro5. If a longer cable is needed, make certain to purchase a Thunderbolt 5 cable certified by Intel. Non-certified cables listed as 80 Gbps and 240W will not work with 8big Pro5.
- 8big Pro5 can be connected to a computer with a Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, or USB4 ports on a Mac or Windows PC. Confirm that your Windows PC manufacturer provides the latest Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 firmware. Older versions of Thunderbolt firmware may not support connection to 8big Pro5.
- 8big Pro5 cannot be connected to a USB Type A port.
- 8big Pro5 cannot be connected to a USB-C port that is USB 3.2 or USB 3.1.
macOS
Connect 8big Pro5 to the Thunderbolt port of an M-based or Intel-based Mac running macOS 15 (Sequoia) or higher.
Windows
Your Windows PC must run Windows 11 24H2 or higher. Review the conditions below to ensure that 8big Pro5 performs as expected.
Thunderbolt Performance
Connect to a Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4, or Thunderbolt 3 port. Confirm that your PC manufacturer has updated to the latest firmware for Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3.
