LaCie USB drives are compatible with most host devices so that they can be easily connected to Android tablets/smartphones, Chromebooks and Consoles. This article provides links and information about connections between USB drives and a range of host devices.
Confirm the following requirement before using a LaCie USB external drive with any host device:
- Format compatibility - Support for drive formats such as exFAT, APFS, NTFS, FAT32 or another format. LaCie USB drives are shipped as exFAT.
- Capacity limitations – Maximum capacity allowed
- Partition type requirements – Support for partition types Master Boot Record (MBR) and GUID Partition Table (GPT). LaCie 2 TB and smaller USB drives are shipped as MBR. Drives that are 3 TB and larger are shipped as GPT.
- Power requirements – Portable drives need to receive power from host devices to work. Some non-computer hosts may not provide sufficient power to external devices. In such a case, consider using a USB drive with its own power supply.
