Seagate drives undergo 160+ rigorous tests to deliver high reliability in even extreme conditions. Over a 6-week period, drives are tested to check mean time between various aspects.

Temperature test

Whether it's caused by heat dissipation or overload, Seagate tests our drives at more than 75°C to ensure the drive can withstand high temperature environments and climate changes. (*Test environment varies by model).

Resonance test

Our hard drives are tested at different frequencies of vibration to simulate various conditions such as in cars, planes or other machines that produce vibrations. This also ensures the drives perform well when multiple drives work together in high-density installations.

Barometric pressure test

Tests are done at different atmospheric pressure conditions to simulate high altitude or low-pressure environments (usually to an altitude of 12,200 meters) on the performance and lifespan of the hard drive.

Humidity test

This test measures the drives' performance in different humidity environments to look for corrosion, outgassing, and contamination to ensure the drive is durable and reliable.

Impact test

Our drives are tested to withstand physical shocks or impacts such as drop tests, shock tests and vibration tests without compromising its functionality.

Noise test

This test detects the sound pressure, vibration and noise generated when the hard drive is running, for a seamless and quiet operation.
