What’s the ultimate vote of confidence in your workplace?
For four Seagate employees, it was recommending to their children the place where they built their careers.
Recommending your workplace to your child means putting years of personal experience behind that recommendation. Across Seagate locations in the United States, China, Northern Ireland and Singapore, four parents felt confident doing just that. Their trust grew from careers filled with opportunities to learn, take on new challenges, and evolve alongside technology.
For Katie Staub, principal program/project manager in wafer operations in Minnesota, the recommendation reflected more than 30 years across engineering, management and program leadership. Her son Ben grew up hearing about her work and meeting colleagues who made engineering feel accessible.
“I liked the people and the interesting work they were doing,” Ben says. “They clearly enjoyed their work and were eager to teach others and share what they knew.”
Today, Ben is a wafer process engineer at Seagate. He is working in the field that first caught his attention through his mother while bringing his own curiosity and ideas to the role.
In Wuxi, China, Zou Ting Ting’s confidence came from a career that had grown over time. She joined Seagate as a manufacturing specialist in 2007 and progressed into leadership. When her daughter, XinYi, was preparing to enter the working world, Ting Ting felt comfortable recommending a company where she had found opportunities to build her skills and career.
XinYi now works in head stack assembly manufacturing, contributing to components used in data storage devices. The experience has given her a perspective of her own.
“It helps me understand that even work that may seem ordinary can create meaningful value on a global scale,” she says.

At Seagate’s Springtown site in Northern Ireland, Shaun North had built a career spanning three decades when his son Harry joined a degree apprenticeship combining university study with hands-on engineering experience.
Harry quickly experienced the welcoming environment his father had hoped he would find. “Everyone is very friendly, happy and has time to help,” he says.

With colleagues willing to share their knowledge, Harry is building practical skills and taking his own first steps in engineering.
In Singapore, Bukhari Fuad had come to value Seagate’s global reach and opportunities to grow since joining the company in 2018. When his son, Muhammad Afif Haikal Bukhari, was considering where to begin his career, Bukhari felt confident recommending Seagate.
Today, Muhammad is an engineering specialist III in media equipment engineering. He and his father work in different roles within the same manufacturing operation.
“It felt very meaningful and emotional to see my son wearing the same Seagate badge as me,” Bukhari says.
Across four countries, these parents trusted their experiences enough to recommend Seagate to the next generation. Ben, XinYi, Harry and Muhammad each accepted that opportunity for their own reasons — and each is now making it their own.
