Seagate Strengthens its Maxtor OneTouch and Maxtor Shared Storage Product Families

Addressing the rising need for more space to enjoy and backup large video files, photos and rich audio content, Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX) today announced that it is shipping this month new capacity points of its Maxtor Shared Storage(tm) II and Maxtor OneTouch(tm) III storage and backup solutions for computers, laptops and small networks.

Being shown at the Digital Life show, which opens to the public October 12-15 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in NY, the Maxtor OneTouch III Turbo Edition, the king of the family, is now available with up to 1.5TB of high performance, large capacity storage with user-configurable RAID for intensive disc-access applications. The Maxtor OneTouch III single-drive desktop solution is now offered in up to 750GB and the Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition sports 160GB for users needing a convenient way to carry tons of digital content while on the go. In addition to the currently shipping 1TB size, the Maxtor Shared Storage II now comes in single-drive solutions providing 320GB or 500GB of space to centralize and share content on a home or small business network. Both the Maxtor OneTouch III and Maxtor Shared Storage II families include sophisticated, easy-to-use software that makes protecting valuable files nearly effortless via automatic backup directly from PCs and Macs or on home and small office networks.

The Maxtor OneTouch III solution features a simple Maxtor user-interface for drive management, security, and automatic backup scheduling, as well as System Rollback that returns a PC system to a healthier state after a damaging spyware or virus attack, while keeping data current, and data synchronization between two or more computers. A combination of interfaces is available for Mac and PC users. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the Maxtor OneTouch III external storage product family ranges from $149.99 (160GB) to $499.99 (750GB).

Weighing less than 8 ounces, the Maxtor OneTouch III, Mini Edition is the perfect solution for anyone who needs an easy, secure way to carry their up-to-date digital portfolio. With up to 160GB, it features award-winning Maxtor OneTouch technology with automated backup scheduling, Maxtor DriveLock and 256-bit encryption for two levels of additional security. USB 2.0 interface. PC and Mac compatible. MRSP for the Maxtor OneTouch III, Mini Edition portable storage solution is $119.99 (60GB) to $199.99 (160GB).

Maxtor OneTouch III, Turbo Edition is a high performance, large capacity external storage solution designed for creative professionals needing the disk-striping speed of RAID 0 for intensive disk-access applications or the security of RAID 1 for automatically mirroring data. The user-configurable RAID solution streamlines performance and conquers multiple-streaming without dropping frames; critical in quality video editing. The Maxtor OneTouch III, Turbo Edition comes preformatted for Mac and formats easily for Windows. Includes FireWire(r) 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 interfaces for Mac and PC users. MRSP for the Maxtor OneTouch III, Turbo Edition storage solution is $549.99 (1TB) to $799.99 (1.5TB).

Maxtor Shared Storage II gives consumers the ability to simply share storage and automatically backup computer files, photos, music and digital videos to one location on small office and home networks. Easy user interface provides backup scheduling of networked computers, data restoration, and media playback to networked media/entertainment systems without being tied down to a dedicated computer host. Other features include Drag and Sort(tm) for automatic file organization, SimpleView(tm) for quick backup and storage status to all users and two USB ports for printer sharing and automatic backup to additional hard drives for off-site rotation. For PC and Mac users. MSRP is $349.99 (320GB), $449.99 (500GB) and $799.99 (1TB).
