LCSS is a non-profit organization that assists children and families from low-income backgrounds. The Friends of Children (FOC) program provides transitional care to children whose parents are incarcerated. Professional counselors work with families to assist in meeting the physical, emotional, social, educational and financial needs of the children during a parent’s absence. Another distinct feature of the FOC program is the commitment to long-term, genuine friendship offered to children by volunteers who play the role of “surrogate parents” to support the children during this difficult period.
“We are proud to be able to join hands with LCSS and play a part in helping the less fortunate in Singapore,” said Teh Ban Seng, Seagate Vice President and managing director for Asia Pacific sales and marketing. “Seagate recognizes the great work LCSS has done in providing for these children, and firmly believes that it will make a huge difference to their lives. We’re grateful for the support of our employees, our customers, and partners who have contributed greatly to support this worthwhile cause.”
Currently, 119 children and 71 families receive aid from LCSS, which aims to extend assistance to a total of 120 children and 80 families. Seagate’s contribution will help support:
The maintenance and administrative costs of full-time workers and counselors caring and supporting the families located across Singapore;
And the provision of monthly food rations to all children in the program.
“Seagate’s support will surely go a long way to assist LCSS to impact lives in the community,” said James Wong, chief executive officer of LCSS. “We are very thankful to Seagate’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and their active participation in our programs.”
Seagate employees in Singapore have been actively involved with LCSS and FOC through activities like educational field trips. Some Seagate employees are also currently providing support and transitional care to children under the FOC program and spend at least eight hours a month with their wards.
