This increasingly popular pre-Thanksgiving race, expected to draw nearly 1,000 participants this year, benefits the Colorado Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The Panicking Poultry event will again feature the Corporate Team Challenge and Kids’ Fun Run, a holiday food drive for local charities and a silent auction to raise additional funds in the fight against MS. There will also be lots of cool prizes, a post-race meal donated by Carrabba’s Italian Grill of Louisville, along with other refreshments, and beer from the Avery Brewing Company and Harpo’s Sports Grill, both of Boulder.
“Seagate is proud to sponsor an event that’s fast becoming a tradition for so many in Boulder County and beyond,” said Seagate vice president, Andy Davis. “But more important are the benefits of this race to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in its fight to find a cure for MS.”
“The Colorado Chapter of the National MS Society is honored to be the continuing charity of choice for the Seagate sponsored Panicking Poultry 5K Run/Walk, said Marti Smith, Vice President of Marketing and Events. “The donation will support Colorado resident MS programs and services, and research toward a cure.”
Register online for the Panicking Poultry 5K Run/Walk for MS at http://www.PanickingPoultry5K.com or at the Boulder Running Company, at 2775 Pearl St. or in Littleton, at 8116 West Bowles Ave., Ste. C (near South Wadsworth Blvd.), until noon on November 10. Or register on race day at the Boulder Reservoir.
About Multiple Sclerosis and the National MS Society
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms may be mild such as numbness in the limbs or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, but the unpredictable physical and emotional effects can be lifelong. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are giving hope to those affected by the disease.
There are about 400,000 Americans with MS, and every week about 200 people are diagnosed with the disease. Colorado has one of the highest incidence rates of MS in the U.S., with about 8,600 Coloradoans living with the disease, 73 percent of whom are women.
