Seagate to Award $10,000 in Engineering Scholarships to St. Vrain and Boulder Valley Students Enrolling at CU-Boulder

Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX) today announced it will issue $10,000 in scholarships to students in the St. Vrain Valley and Boulder Valley School Districts who apply and are admitted to the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder for the Fall 2008/Spring 2009 school year. Students may be high school seniors applying as college freshmen or returning to CU as sophomores, juniors or seniors. The application deadline is April 1, 2008.

Five students will be selected to receive $2,000 scholarships, based on the following criteria: grade point average, financial need, community involvement and technical innovation/creativity.

“We’re very excited about this opportunity to offer support to students in our community who have a passion for the sciences, an innovative spirit and an interest in applying technology in ways that will benefit society,” said Andy Davis, Seagate vice president, Design Engineering.

In addition to the $2,000 scholarship, recipients will receive one of Seagate’s latest products, a 1 Terabyte FreeAgent? Pro storage solution. With advanced features and software, this new product offers extra storage capacity for digital video, photos and MP3 files, as well as the latest storage-intensive video games.

Applications for the Seagate Scholarship Program are available in the advisors’ offices at high schools in the St. Vrain and Boulder Valley School Districts and in the Scholarship Office at CU-Boulder’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (call Gretchen Lee at 303-735-2440 for details).

Completed applications will be accepted through April 1, 2008. Recipients of the Seagate Scholarship will be notified in early April. Scholarship applicants must be admitted at CU-Boulder’s engineering

college and have a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form on file in the university’s financial aid office. Scholarship recipients will receive the first half of the scholarship ($1,000) in the fall 2008 semester and the final payment in the spring 2009 semester.
