Seagate has helped storage and IT industry leaders roll out SAM customer training programs and an easy-to-use web-based interactive SAM tool that helps customers intuitively find the best hard drive for an application, using a variety of parameters. Additionally, Seagate also announced the launch of its SAM localized websites in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region to enable people in the region to utilize SAM in their preferred language.
"Delivering time-to-market and best-in-class storage products to our customers is critical to Seagate's success," said Brian Dexheimer, Seagate executive vice president of Global Sales and Marketing. "Equally important, however, is Seagate's commitment to help our customers determine the best-fit solution for their application requirements and grow their business - which is why Seagate created SAM. Along with the rapid adoption of SAM as an industry tool, the broad launch of the SAM tool to localized websites across the globe further allows SAM to reach out to customers through their closest partners and in their own languages."
Today's broadening set of storage applications has led to diverging technology requirements and a broader set of hard drives to meet new needs, with diverse interface technologies, form factors, spindle speeds, and standards of reliability. IT professionals, system integrators and resellers are looking for new information to increase their expertise in the intricate interplay of these various technologies. SAM outlines hard drive design considerations, and makes it simple to fit each technology to the application for which it was designed. Using SAM to choose the right storage solution for each application saves costs, optimizes Return On Investment (ROI), drives the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and delivers the highest customer satisfaction.
"We've been using SAM to train our internal sales teams and we have seen immediate results," said Phil Roussey, Bell Microproducts executive vice president of Enterprise Marketing. "Our customers are much better served by more information. Bell Microproducts customers appreciate our sales person's ability to provide them with the best choice of drive technologies for their application. Seagate again has demonstrated commitment to our success, as well as that of our customers."
"When making storage choices, many factors like reliability, scalability, workload/performance, data integrity, system architecture/interface and power consumption come into consideration," said Michael Chang, product marketing manager of Promise Technology. "SAM provides an easily accessible, user-friendly repository of information on all these aspects."
"SAM is an easy-to-use interactive tool," said Virginia Gaw, marketing manager, Kingston Technology Company, Inc. "We appreciate Seagate's contribution with SAM to provide information on the best choice of drive technologies for different applications."
"Many different components and parts go into building a good system," said Ted Lin, Sales account manager at Asustek Computer Inc. "We are pleased that now, with SAM in place, the right drive will be chosen to complement our products to produce the best system based on application fit. Seagate has once again demonstrated its industry leadership and contribution to the storage market."
"SAM is a useful tool that allows us to educate our resellers on choosing the right drive for the right application," said Vikas Goel, group company managing director for eSys Distribution Pte Ltd. "The launch of the SAM interactive website is another testimonial to Seagate's commitment to its distributors and its efforts to provide value-add to our businesses."
"Thanks to SAM, our customers are much better served by more information," said Bern Choo, regional sales director of Achieva Group. "Seagate again has demonstrated commitment to our success, and our customers' success."
"From a business success perspective, it is critical that we provide our customers with the best-fit solutions that meet their requirements," said Gibson Guo, purchasing manager of TCL Computer Technology Company. "In creating SAM, Seagate has provided a useful industry tool that helps us better understand the right drive-application mix. This in turn optimizes our ROI and delivers the highest customer satisfaction."
"Amid the different hard drive storage choices available, SAM simplifies decisions on choosing the right drive for your application," said Jerry Teng, Gigabyte's Channel Business account manager of Pan Asia and Africa Sales Department. "Thanks to Seagate, we are now able to get useful information on disc drive basics and interface technology at a central repository - just with a click of the mouse."
The strength of Seagate lies in its ability to design a comprehensive mix of storage devices that meet its customers' application requirements while balancing specific performance technologies, reliability and cost. SAM pulls together performance and reliability data that shows each drive's capabilities for differing application requirements, so customers can consider all aspects of cost of ownership, and make the right choice. The SAM interactive website provides easy navigation and access to information about storage applications, about requirements for workload, reliability and performance, and about the technologies of drive and interface design. The local language SAM websites ease language barriers and allow Seagate customers to utilize this easy-to-use tool in their preferred language of choice to determine the right drive for their storage needs.
The SAM interactive tool is provided on the web by a variety of industry leaders. Customers can check with their local storage and system providers for their customer URL. The SAM tool can also be visited and used at the following URL: http://storageanswers.com
