Joel A. Stead Promoted to Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific Sales

Seagate Technology, Inc. (NYSE:SEG), the leading supplier of disc drives in the Asia Pacific region and world's largest producer of disc drives and related components, today announced the promotion of Joel A. Stead to senior vice president, Asia Pacific Sales.

"During the last three years Joel has developed a team that demonstrates consistent success and commitment to the Asia Pacific region, increasing disc drive sales from 2.5 million units in fiscal year 1995, to more than 8 million in fiscal 1997. This is a growth of over 300 percent in just three years," said Alan F. Shugart, CEO, president and chairman. "Joel has implemented effective channel strategies which have led to strong partnerships between Seagate and our valued distribution and OEM partners. Joel has taken customer satisfaction to an all-time high, garnering honors from such key customers as Sony, Inventec, Mitac and Acer. Stead joined Seagate in 1985 as manager of Operations and Planning, and later manager of Product Marketing and Business Planning. His success led to positions as vice president, Product Line Management and Marketing, and most recently vice president and managing director, Sales and Marketing, Asia Pacific. Stead holds a Masters of Business Administration from Drury College-Breech School of Business Administration as well as a Masters of International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management.
