Leading Notebook PC Makers Worldwide Choose Seagate Momentus Hard Drive

Seagate announced that its Momentus notebook hard drive has been adopted by notebook PC makers worldwide - among them are Acer, Alienware, Dell, HP, Fujitsu Siemens, Intcomex, Legend, MPC, Medion, NEC Computers International, Time, and Vobis. Leading notebook computer makers and specialty suppliers have chosen the Seagate Momentus for its unique combination of high performance, low battery consumption, high reliability and low acoustics.

Seagate is the only independent maker of notebook hard drives, and notebook computer makers have welcomed the Company's entry into the fastest growing portion of the computer market. Momentus is the industry's first notebook hard drive to combine a high-performance 5,400-rpm spindle speed with the low battery-consumption of a traditional 4200-rpm notebook hard drive, so customers no longer have to choose between performance and mobility. Seagate's patented SoftSonic fluid dynamic motor and new QuietStep ramp load technology make Momentus one of the quietest, most rugged notebook hard drives available.

"Top notebook PC leaders expect the best from the world's leading hard drive maker," said Brian Dexheimer, Seagate executive vice president of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service. "With Momentus we've applied Seagate's technology leadership, efficiency and flexibility to meet our customers' performance and reliability needs - and to enable new capabilities with a 5,400-rpm spindle speed and low battery consumption."

"Seagate is off to an impressive start in the burgeoning notebook hard drive market," said John Donovan, Vice President of leading market research firm TrendFOCUS. "The company's advanced manufacturing approach and solid technology provide for a solid product launch into the fastest-growing portion of the high-volume HDD market."

"Momentus has helped Alienware's award-winning Area-51m(tm) mobile gaming system achieve new heights of performance, quiet operation and longer battery life," said Brian M. Joyce, director of Marketing at Alienware.

"Momentus is as reliable and effective as Seagate's renowned desktop PC hard drives. Momentus meets the highest standards we set for our popular notebook PCs," said Martin J. Garvin, senior vice president, Worldwide Procurement, Dell.

"With the Momentus product Seagate added a 2.5-inch drive to their portfolio, which Fujitsu Siemens Computers is using in the Amilo Notebook series, dedicated to the consumer market," said Karl May, vice president of Global Sourcing of Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "The performance of the drive in our Consumer Notebooks helps us to provide an outstanding solution to the market place, which has been very well accepted by our customers."

"HP and Seagate continue our strategic relationship with the addition of the Momentus notebook drive," said Brett Faulk, director of world wide consumer notebook marketing, Personal Systems Group, HP. "Seagate is rapidly becoming a key notebook drive supplier as HP continues our market leadership with the Presario and Pavilion families."

"The Momentus drive lives up to Seagate's reputation for outstanding quality, performance and reliability. Momentus delivers quiet operation, high speed and mobility without sacrificing battery life, perfect for today's demanding consumer," said Anthony Shalom, President, Hurricane Systems division of the Intcomex Group.

"Seagate's Momentus is one of the quietest, most rugged notebook hard drives we've ever seen," said Paul Petersen, vice president of Product Marketing and Development at MPC. "Seagate has shown us again that its speed, flexibility, and efficiency can help us deliver to our customers the right products at the right time."

"Seagate has already become an important supplier for our award-winning notebook PCs," said Joachim Leidinger, Director International Sales at Medion. "There are many reasons Seagate is the world's leading hard drive designer - customer focus, leading technology, extreme attention to reliability - and they all shine through in the new Momentus hard drive."

"NEC Computers International and Seagate are long-term partners providing customers with the latest technologies and high-quality products. We are proud to broaden our notebook range with the Packard Bell EasyNote E and M Series featuring the Seagate Momentus hard drive," said Jeannine Marra, Director of Worldwide Purchasing at NEC Computers International.

"Seagate has quickly become a critical supplier of hard drives for our notebook PCs," said Dr. Tariq Mohammed, Group Marketing Director at Time Computers. "Seagate's ability to respond to our needs and to quickly deliver new products is unsurpassed."

"With Momentus, Seagate has helped us meet the increasing performance demands of our notebook PC customers," said Alexander Funke, manager of Key Components Purchasing at Vobis. "With its high spin speed and low battery consumption, Momentus unleashes new performance possibilities."
