While working with the multi-platinum selling band Metallica on their latest album St. Anger, Bob Rock used the Digidesign ProTools digital software recording system along with Seagate fibre channel Cheetah drives housed inside a Studio Network Solutions A/V SAN. The result was a system that could record and track more information using far less hardware and space, with greater efficiency, all while delivering the highest levels of performance possible for data-intensive multi-track recording environments.
"I like the fact that Seagate's fibre channel Cheetah drives within the system really allow me to work with artists with no limitations," said Rock. "The possibilities for what can be done are endless and that freedom can also help spark creativity and true inspiration in the studio."
Seagate Cheetah disc drives are the music industry's storage technology of choice, having established a reputation as the gold standard for producers and major recording studios around the world. For veteran producers and engineers like Bob Rock, the Cheetah's high-performance is not the only reason for his loyalty.
"Because I can rely on the system with Seagate drives, it allows me to spend more time focusing on the music," continued Rock. "At the end of the day, that's what's most important in my line of work."
