"Consumers think of their external hard drive as a storage locker or a suitcase, so we made our new drive simple to use. In it you can store photos, music, movies, or whatever else doesn't fit on your computer's hard drive - or keep backup copies of business papers and presentations," said Brian Dexheimer, Seagate executive vice president of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service. "We also made it noticeably more rugged than any other external drive - customers expect that from the world's favorite hard drive maker."
Seagate's push-button backup feature uses BounceBack Express software, based on the award-winning ABSplus from CMS Peripherals - it backs up faster and easier than other external hard drive backup methods. Seagate's push button lights up so you know backup is underway, and the light fades out when the drive has completed its back up routine. The user's first backup makes a copy of the entire drive. After that, only new changes are backed up, enabling a rapid process. Seagate drives with BounceBack Express save and restore files in their native format, simplifying and speeding up the process. BounceBack Express automatic backup software incorporates scheduling, backup sets, automatic launcher and simple restore features. CMS backup software has been recognized as the industry's best, with awards including Best of Comdex, CNET Top 10 Must Haves, Laptop Magazine Ultimate Choice Award, MacAddict Award, and Macworld Best of Show.
With Seagate's unique interlocking design, users can stack multiple drives horizontally or place the drive vertically for the smallest footprint on the market. A sturdy, upright stand and non-slip rubber feet on two sides ensure the drive can be arranged in many convenient ways and will not slide around or slip off a desk. And users can plug and unplug the drive without turning off the computer.
Built of a strong acrylic/polycarbonate material the Seagate External Hard Drive is the most rugged and reliable external hard drive available. It runs much cooler than other external drives, because it's designed to dissipate heat in any configuration - vertical or stacked. Seagate hard drives are safeguarded by built-in self-monitoring technology that continuously checks for data safety and drive performance, and by SeaTools(tm) diagnostic software. Plus, lifetime tech support means that users can call for friendly technical advice for the whole long life of the drive.
