BANGKOK, Thailand - Plasma Z, the Thai robot soccer team of Chulalongkorn University, has come in third place and won the Best Technical Challenge award at the recent World Robocup 2006 competition in Germany.

There are more than 20 teams around the world participating in this unique event. Each team has five robots competing as a team, playing soccer against other teams using FIFA rules. Plasma-Z consists of 11 fourth-year students from the Engineering Faculty of Chulalongkorn University. Plasma-Z is the co-champion of Thailand Robocup 2006 which is supported and organized by Thai Robotics Society and Seagate Technology Thailand.

"It's an unbelievable accomplishment and we are very pleased," said team captain, Miss Nawarat Termtanasombat from the Chulalongkorn University. "Today, this team from Thailand has proved itself to be at the same level as the leading teams in the world. We are proud of ourselves and will have to do more work next year."
