Seagate's Five-Year Warranty Receives Strong Endorsement from EMEA Distribution Channel

PARIS, France - Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX) has reported that its distribution channel partners across EMEA have enthusiastically endorsed the five-year warranty policy that it announced in July. The policy covers all Seagate internal, notebook and enterprise hard drives sold through the company's distribution and retail channels. Seagate is the only hard disc drive manufacturer offering this level of warranty protection.

"We have clearly demonstrated confidence in the quality of our products by offering a five-year warranty on our disc drives and we are delighted that this move has been so strongly welcomed by our partners," said Hans-Dieter Blaser, Seagate executive director of Sales and Marketing in EMEA. "The reaction we have received from our EMEA customers since we announced the five-year warranty in July is a strong endorsement of our decision. The five-year warranty policy enables our partners to be more successful in selling Seagate disc drives - the confidence we have shown by introducing the policy translates into confidence in our products at the point-of-sale."

Paul Sader of French reseller Micro Et Point Com said, "Our feeling about the five-year warranty can only be positive. It makes us more confident with the brand particularly since Seagate's after-sales service is so well regarded. Having a major manufacturer like Seagate supporting us with a five-year warranty on hard drives is good news."

"We expect to sell more Seagate products because of the five-warranty - we have already secured new customers who had not bought Seagate products before," said Steve Cowley, sales manager of UK distributor Hammer. "The five-year warranty demonstrates Seagate's commitment to quality and value-add."

Egils Apsitis, product manager with Elko Group, a leading Seagate distributor in Russia, said that the five-year warranty "will add more value to us as a Seagate distributor in the eyes of our customers." Jacqueline Dehaene, who has responsibility for the French and Belgian markets with eSys Distribution, believes that "the five year warranty is a very strong competitive argument for Seagate, compared with other manufacturers who compete only on price."

"We are extremely happy about Seagate's decision to increase its warranty to five years. Excellent quality and service on storage devices is crucial for end users," said Ralf Germer, managing director of Actebis Distribution Spain. "Seagate partners like Actebis will benefit from increased demand for Seagate products."
