Seagate Expands Market Reach by Adding Key Distributor in Brazil

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. - Extending its reach as the world's top hard drive maker, Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX) has authorized Alcateia as a distributor in Brazil, a country accounting for upwards of 60 percent of the Latin America market for IT products. Alcateia, one of Brazil's top five distributors, will begin offering Seagate products immediately, giving Seagate access to 75 percent of Brazil's system integrators.

The addition of Alcateia as an authorized distributor is part of Seagate's continuing push to increase business opportunities for a growing number of channel partners. Seagate's best-in-class hard drives for mobile computing, PC and enterprise applications will enable Alcateia to reach a broader range of customers.

Alcateia will carry Seagate's industry-leading 3.5-inch Cheetah and 2.5-inch Savvio enterprise hard drive products with spin speeds of up to 15,000 RPM and with SAS, SCSI and Fibre-Channel interfaces, Seagate's high-capacity Barracuda desktop PC hard drive products with Ultra ATA or native SATA interface and Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and capacities up to 400GB, and Seagate's Momentus drives with Ultra ATA or native SATA interface, spin speeds up to 7,200 RPM and capacities as high as 120GB. These drives will support a broad range of applications for desktop and notebook PCs, servers and data centers.
