Seagate Joins List of Distinguished Speakers at Korea Cable TV Summit 2002

Seagate today announced that Teh Ban Seng will speak as a panelist at Korea Cable TV Summit 2002 at the Grand Inter-Continental Hotel, Seoul, Korea on May 27. Ban Seng is managing director of Asia Sales and Marketing for Seagate Technology, the world's top hard disc drive manufacturer and the leading storage technology provider for the Consumer Electronics (CE) industry.

The Korea Cable TV Summit, organized by Hong Kong publishing and research company Media Partners Asia (MPA), in association with the Korean Cable TV Association (KCTA), will explore how the emerging cable TV industry can create value from enhanced subscription economics, stronger advertising utilization, two-way digital services and interactivity, compelling program tiers and content offerings, and dynamic software and technology.

Ban Seng will join other industry experts to discuss the development of local storage combined with broadband in the home, that could provide the cable industry with increased revenue streams, greater customer retention and lower infrastructure costs. The panel will explore the latest technology in this field, including the emergence of TV set-top-boxes equipped with hard disc drives, and the raft of CE devices incorporating data storage technology.

Seagate was a pioneer in developing storage products for the CE market, and in 1997 was first to deliver disc drives specifically for CE customers.
