Seagate Strengthens Distribution Network in India to Address Expanded Product Portfolio and Support Services

With an expanded product portfolio that includes virtually every market segment, Seagate (NYSE:STX) announced today the appointment of leading IT distributor Redington to join its existing distributors eSys Distribution and Ingram Micro in a distribution network that enhances the availability of Seagate products in India.

Leveraging the combined strength of all three distribution partners, Seagate intends to grow its market share leadership in India, as confirmed by recent reports from independent market researcher AC Nielsen. Redington India, with a turnover of Rs.2,081 crores, was rated the second largest IT distributor in India and recorded the highest growth rate in the Distribution industry - of 29% as against the industry average of 24% - according to the latest Dataquest Top 20 annual survey that ranks the top performers in different segments of the industry based mainly on revenue.

"Recent market surveys by various analysts have shown that Seagate enjoys a very strong brand pull not only in metros but also in B&C grade cities as well," said Sharad Srivastava, country manager of Seagate India. "We are also reaching out to the growing SME (small, medium enterprise) market across India. With 32 offices located nationwide, Redington India has one of the strongest networks of resellers and offices in the country to help extend the reach of Seagate's products to Indian IT customers, businesses and consumers."

"Seagate, which is a world leader in hard disc drives, has an ideal product line to add to our portfolio of 20 leading IT brands," said Jitendra Kulkarni, CEO, Redington (India). "With this move, we will be able to fulfill the demand from our customers to offer more choice of products and brands in technology components."

Today, Seagate has an extensive channel program in India with over 700+ channel partners spread across 84 cities. Seagate also offers its hard drive users the ease and value of good service support through its 32-city SeaCare centers. SeaCare centers are operated by Seagate trained staff and offer support across the country to provide an enhanced overall customer experience. Seagate is also the first and only hard drive company to provide a National Toll Free Call center which functions like a window to Seagate for any business or technical query on the company's products and services. Additionally, Seagate's reliable hard drives now feature the best warranty protection when Seagate upped the post-sales service standard by announcing recently the industry's first and longest five-year warranty on all its internal hard disc drives shipped through its distribution and retail channels throughout the world.
