Seagate Awarded "Preferred Supplier" Status By Fujitsu Siemens Computers

Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX) has been awarded Preferred Supplier status by Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), a leading European computer manufacturer and market leader in Germany. This is the highest honor given by FSC in its Supplier Rating and Improvement Programme (SRI). It recognises Seagate's outstanding performance in reliability of deliveries and comprehensive process integration. Fujitsu Siemens Computers gives Preferred Suppliers priority when purchasing components.

More than 90 suppliers of various components were tested as part of the SRI programme but only 15 were granted Preferred Supplier status. Fujitsu Siemens Computers regularly evaluates the performance of its suppliers and this evaluation is a cross-functional rating with four areas of focus: purchase, logistics, quality assurance and technology. The SRI programme is targeted towards the reduction of total cost of ownership by agreeing upon specific improvement measures. These measures are regularly assessed and their implementation verified.

"We congratulate Seagate for its high performance standards and for making significant contributions to Fujitsu Siemens' products and services. The recognition as Preferred Supplier is a logical consequence of our many years working together. We appreciate Seagate as a strong partner that offers us speedy order processing, reliable delivery and outstanding support," said Werner Schnitzmeier, Director, Global Sourcing Storage Devices, at Fujitsu Siemens Computers GmbH.

Receiving an award like this from a major computer company confirms that our strategy is right on target and that we meet the needs of our customers for the highest quality in production, punctual delivery and outstanding quality management," said Don Kennedy, Vice President, EMEA Sales & Marketing, at Seagate Technology.
