Cheetah 15K-rpm disc drives are widely recognized for having fast performance with the highest reliability in the industry, making them ideal for I/O intensive 24 by 7 by forever environments. Barracuda enterprise-class disc drives are well-suited for more data-intensive applications that require the highest levels of capacity and performance in a reliable, robust storage device. Both of Seagate's enterprise-class disc drive families are designed to serve the needs of IT managers focused on lowering the total cost of ownership (TCO) of their storage systems.
The Ultimate PC event is a live demonstration where the Product and Technology Review Department of CRN, the Test Center, builds the "Ultimate PC" to see how far limits can be pushed with today's technology, by selecting best-of-breed components. Throughout the year, the Director of CRN Labs, John Yacono, and the CRN Test Center review, select, and test the most cutting-edge technology available on the market to create the Ultimate PC. The end result is a PC that uses the most innovative, feature-rich and reliable products manufactured by today's top vendors.
"Seagate is honored to receive these two awards from CRN for our Cheetah and Barracuda disc drives," said Brian Dexheimer, Seagate executive vice president, Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Customer Service. "Seagate prides itself on its design and engineering expertise, but even more important is our commitment to listening to and fulfilling the needs of our customers. These awards are really a manifestation of that customer-centric approach."
The 2002 Ultimate PC Awards recognized outstanding technology vendors in 18 product categories, including CD Drive; Display; Floppy Drive; Hard Disk/Performance; Hard Disk/Capacity; Keyboard; Memory Modules; Motherboard, Mouse; Network Interface Card; Power Supply; Processor; SCSI HBA; Sound System; Speaker System; System Cabinet; Value-Added Component; and Video System. The CRN Test Center rates the vendor partners on product criteria such as quality, functionality, performance, and innovation.
"My sincerest congratulations to Seagate. It's very exciting to be able to present the second annual Ultimate PC awards," commented Yacono. "With outstanding technologies and the strong CRN Test Center staff, again this year we developed an outstanding PC."
