Seagate Drives Receive Numerous Editorial Accolades In Korea

SEOUL, Korea - Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX) announced today that its best-in-class disc drives continue to receive numerous editorial awards and recognition from many of the leading IT publications and review/benchmark specialists in Korea. The world's leading provider of storage technology, Seagate, offers a broad range of products for personal, enterprise and consumer electronics (CE) storage to meet the wide ranging needs of its customers.

In June 2002, Seagate's best selling 7,200RPM Barracuda ATA IV hard disc drive was named "Best Choice" product by Computer Times, and it earned the "Best Product" award from review/benchmark specialists PCBee and Technoa in July 2002. As the most popular product in the Korean hard disc drive market, the Barracuda ATA IV also garnered the "2002 Hardware Award" by three leading PC magazines - HOW PC, PC Line and PC Sarang - and Computer Times' "2002 Hit Product" award in December 2002.

In the months of October and November 2002, HardwareLab gave the Barracuda ATA V a 5-star rating while Brainbox and K-Bench praised the Cheetah 10K.6 disc drive for its "outstanding data transfer rate and best combination of interface and recording density" in their respective product review columns.

In January 2003, the Barracuda ATA family of drives received accolades for "2002 Best Product" (K-Bench), "2002 Hit Product" (PCBee) and "Technoa Choice Product" (Technoa) for the second half of the year 2002.

Seagate Barracuda ATA V - the industry's first hard drive to achieve 120GB using only two discs, is available in the Korean market. Barracuda ATA V also offers a native Serial ATA technology interface - a faster, simpler, more intelligent technology designed to replace today's Parallel ATA hard drive interface.

Seagate disc drives are protected by the exclusive 3D Defense System, the most comprehensive set of protective features in the industry. Unique advantages, such as the SeaShield and SeaShell, protect the drive from accidental damage that may occur during the integration process. SeaShell is a clear, recyclable clamshell package that protects the drive from 1000+ Gs of nonoperating shock, resists ESD and simplifies barcode scanning. SeaShield is a unique, integrated PCB cover that enhances handling protection, reduces returns and lowers service costs. SeaTools software helps the end-user diagnose problems and determine whether they are drive-, hardware-, or file system- related, helping customers to quickly and intuitively find solutions to system issues. Seagate drives also ship with Seagate's exclusive DiscWizard software, which ensures fast and ease of installation.
