Seagate Expands Market Reach by Adding Three New Distributors in North America

In a move to further strengthen its position as the world's number-one hard drive maker, Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX), today announced the appointment of three new authorized distributors in North America. Under the terms of the new agreements, distributors D&H, Condre and Computech International, Inc. (CTI) can begin shipping products immediately. By continuing to strengthen its customer partnerships through these carefully targeted distributorships, and by leveraging its technology ownership, innovation and unmatched operational excellence into the industry's broadest, most reliable product set featuring the world's most advanced technologies and interface leadership, Seagate continues to provide greater opportunities to more customers in more markets.

The authorization of these distributorships will enable Seagate to extend its reach with smaller resellers, who often prefer to purchase products locally. In addition, Condre, CTI and D&H all offer great flexibility in credit lines and payment terms. The ultimate goal is to provide the small- and medium-sized system builders, VARs and other resellers greater access to Seagate's technological leadership, innovation and best-in-class storage products.

"Adding these distributors to our portfolio enables Seagate to reach a broader customer set and expand our presence among small- to medium-sized resellers," said Don Kennedy, vice president of Sales for Seagate in North America. "Seagate has the broadest, most compelling set of storage solutions for our customers. Seagate has an ongoing commitment to building and maintaining channel integrity, and to helping our channel partners enhance their profitability while meeting the needs of their customers."

Computech International (CTI)
By focusing on information storage products as a strategic line of business, CTI will create significant business opportunities for resellers and systems builders who specialize in growth markets such as the government, military, education, document management and home entertainment in addition to their other broad-based business opportunities. CTI will carry Seagate's industry-leading 3.5-inch Cheetah and 2.5-inch Savvio enterprise hard drive products with spin speeds of up to 15,000 RPM and with SAS, SCSI and Fibre-Channel interfaces, and Seagate's high-capacity Barracuda desktop PC hard drive products with Ultra ATA or native SATA interface and Native Command Queuing (NCQ), and featuring capacities up to 400GB. These drives will be offered for use in new classes of products and applications as well as in traditional PCs, servers and data centers.

Condre's new designation by Seagate will enable the company to provide a significantly greater level of service and support for VARs and System Integrators that require customization and just-in-time delivery of RAID and JBOD system configurations, along with technical and logistical support. Effective immediately, Condre will begin offering Seagate Cheetah Fibre Channel and SCSI hard drives designed for integration in mid-range and high-end enterprise systems by small and mid-size VARs and System Integrators. In addition, Condre will carry Seagate's high-capacity disc drives for desktop PCs, the 400GB Barracuda 7200.8 with a native SATA interface and Native Command Queuing (NCQ) or the Ultra ATA interface.

With D&H, Seagate gains an important distribution partner that is committed to outstanding customer service, particularly to small and medium-sized resellers. The D&H line card will now include 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch Seagate hard drives for PCs, notebook PCs, servers and data centers, with SATA, Ultra ATA and SCSI interfaces, featuring storage capacities of up to 400GB. Among them are the industry's most advanced hard drive for PCs, the 400GB Barracuda 7200.8 with a native SATA interface and Native Command Queuing (NCQ), the popular Seagate Momentus family of hard drives for notebook PCs, which offers high-performance 5,400-RPM speed with the low battery consumption of a traditional notebook hard drive, and the renowned Seagate Cheetah, the world's leading hard drive designed for integration in mid-range and high-end enterprise systems. D&H will also continue to feature Seagate's Retail product line.
