Seagate Goes Pink to Support Finding a Cure for Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women today. In the United States alone, one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes, and one woman dies of breast cancer every 13 minutes. Helping to combat these staggering statistics, Seagate Technology (NYSE), the world's number one hard drive maker, has partnered with The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to promote breast cancer awareness. As part of Seagate's "Backing up the Cause" program, the company is offering a limited edition pink Pocket Hard Drive, with ten percent of the purchase price donated to the Komen Foundation to fund research, promote global awareness and put an end to this life-threatening disease.

Available through and, the Seagate "pink" Pocket Drive ($109 MSRP) comes pre-loaded with songs and video from popular music artists including Joan Jett, Stefy, Toby Lightman, Megan McCauley, Stephanie McKay, Alana Davis, Andrea Rosario and Annie Stela. With plenty of room to spare for your digital content, this generous 6GB pocket-sized external drive lets consumers store and carry hours of digital music, more than a thousand photos and hundreds of business files conveniently in their purse, backpack or briefcase. The Seagate Pocket Hard Drive connects quickly and easily to a computer or laptop via USB 2.0 for instant access to digital content.

"Seagate is proud to join forces with the Komen Foundation in its mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease," said Jim Druckrey, general manager of Seagate Branded Solutions. "Breast cancer touches all our lives and we hope that consumers will take this opportunity to support the Foundation's efforts by volunteering time, making a donation or purchasing a product that supports the cause."

"A key to our success at the Komen Foundation is that we collaborate with a variety of organizations to provide creative ways for people to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer," said Cindy Schneible, vice president of Cause-Related Marketing and Sponsorship at the Komen Foundation. "We are proud to have the opportunity to partner with Seagate to make a bold statement about breast cancer awareness and make a valuable contribution to breast cancer research and community outreach programs."

Further supporting Seagate's "Backing up the Cause" program, the company recently sponsored the local Komen Race for the Cure(r) in San Francisco, CA. Today, the Komen Race for the Cure(r) Series is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world. In addition to raising funds, the Komen Race for the Cure(r) Series is committed to educating the public about early detection, the strongest method of surviving this life-threatening disease.
