Seagate Names New Head for Asia Materials

SINGAPORE - Seagate Technology announced today a transition in roles and responsibilities within its Asia Materials organization, reflecting the Company's ongoing objective to develop and promote local talent in the regions in which it operates. Chang Faa Shoon has been named vice president, Asia Materials, and in his new role will be responsible for the external and internal supply chain of materials required for Seagate's Asia Pacific manufacturing operations. Chang will report to Karl Chicca, Seagate senior vice president, Global Materials.

"Seagate's deployment of its supply chain management initiative has been a critical success factor in helping the Company achieve greater speed, flexibility and efficiency," said Chicca. "Chang's demonstrated leadership quality and his technical expertise in materials will help enhance the integration of the initiative to help Seagate and its business partners respond quicker and more intelligently to the changes within the industry in order to give Seagate a continued advantage."

"The Asia Materials team has been pivotal in driving Seagate toward common business processes and communications platforms with our suppliers and customers," said Chang. "As we continue to web-enable our supply chain management, my goal is to further strengthen our ability to operate and communicate in 24/7 real-time with these key partners around the globe to give us the time-to-market leadership position that is so critical in this industry."

Chang joined Seagate in 1998 bringing with him significant experience in management positions in several industry-leading companies. In the three years, he held tactical and strategic leadership roles in Seagate's Asia Materials' Mechanical Commodity Management Team, Procurement and Site Materials. In his last assignment as executive director of Materials for the Drive operations, Chang was responsible for all the Materials organizations within Seagate's drive manufacturing facilities at Ang Mo Kio (Singapore), Wuxi and Shenzhen (China).

Matthew Johnen, formerly responsible for Seagate's Asia Materials activities, has returned to the U.S. to assume a new role in the Company's Global Materials organization as Vice President, Head and Media Materials and CMT.
