Led by David KH Ngu, vice president of Seagate's Penang Slider Operations, Company managers and directors donned aprons and personally served complimentary meals to all Seagate employees.
Employees representing the Engineering, Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, Environment, Health and Safety, Six Sigma and Quality Assurance departments whose key metrics were achieved in quarter four of fiscal year 2002 also set up four game stalls in the cafeteria. The stalls were a big hit as hundreds of employees eagerly awaited their turn to participate and win prizes in games such as Mini Bowling, Catapult, Hit Your Target and One To Win. To add to the festive mood, employees had an opportunity to make song dedications at a song request counter.
"To be the world's best at what we do, we have to continuously set and exceed stretch goals," said Ngu. "Our focus on yield improvement and customer satisfaction have reaped results and our employees deserve this celebration. This appreciation week is part of Penang Seagate's Quarterly Performance Target Recognition Program. Apart from serving a hearty meal to every Seagate employee, we are also giving them custom jackets as our way of acknowledging the team's first rate performance. We also recently paid employees a bonus of 12.69% of their base pay last month as part of a profit sharing exercise. It is all part of our effort to be an Employer of Choice in Malaysia, and at every Seagate location around the world."
