Seagate Presents Storage Day Conference in India

Seagate Technology, a global technology leader and one of the largest suppliers of storage products in India, today announced it would hold the third annual Seagate Storage Day Conference in New Delhi, India from December 3-4, 2001. The two-day conference will provide insight into the latest developments in storage technology and the evolving role of storage in existing computing environments and emerging applications and architectures.

"This conference will provide an interactive forum for IT experts and professionals from various industries to address storage-related issues and discuss innovative storage solutions that will help drive the Indian IT market moving forward," said BanSeng Teh, managing director of Asia Sales and Marketing, Seagate.

The Seagate Storage Day Conference features a strong list of speakers from leading Indian and multinational companies including NIIT, Compaq, Sun Microsystems, HP, XIOtech, Gadzoox, Eicher, EMC, Computer Associates, Veritas, Eicher Group, and IDC India.

"This conference serves as a venue for industry experts to shed light on trends related to storage technology and applications, plus we will feature panel discussions comprising technology users, suppliers and market analysts," said Sharad Srivastava, Seagate country manager for the Indian Sub-Continent. "The agenda will cover topics like storage management, intelligent storage software and disaster recovery, storage virtualization, and storage resource management."

Today, Seagate is the clear market share leader in India. Recently, Seagate was named the #1 hard disc drive supplier here by the International Data Corp. (IDC) market research firm. The Company was also voted a Channel Champion for Desktop Disc Drives in India by ITNation Business Review in November. Additionally, Seagate hard drives have garnered rave reviews from leading publications in India and around the world. In India, recent product recognition includes being named Editor's Choice for its U Series disc drive from PC World India, Editor's Choice for the Barracuda ATA family of disc drives from CHIP India, and three consecutive years being named PCQuest India Users' Choice for disc drives: 1999, 2000 and 2001.

During January this year, Seagate established a Liaison office in New Delhi to launch new products and provide support services to the fast-growing storage market in India. The new facility's location will enable Seagate to develop closer ties to the market, as well as strengthen customer service capabilities. Seagate will continue to be supported by its local distributors to deliver the latest products to the growing India IT market.
