Seagate Promotes Michael R. Banks to Vice President, CSO, Far East Operations

Seagate Technology, Inc. (NYSE:SEG), the world's largest manufacturer of disc drives and related components, today announced the promotion of Michael R. Banks to vice president, Customer Service Operations (CSO), for the company's Far East operations. Banks will be based in Singapore and will report directly to Ken Davidson, senior vice president, Worldwide CSO.

"Michael brings over 17 years of experience in the storage technology industry to his new position," said Davidson. "His broad knowledge and industry expertise will be assets to CSO development in the Asia Pacific region. As customer service becomes an even more important factor to our key OEMs and distributors, we will need the leadership of industry experts like Michael to position the company to satisfy future demand."

Banks joined Seagate in 1990 as Operations Manager at the company's Repair Facility in Scotland. In 1991, he moved to Seagate's Netherlands facility, with responsibility for warehousing, materials management, production and process engineering maintenance and facility services. In 1995, he relocated to Seagate's Oklahoma City operations as director, CSO Quality, and then accepted an expat assignment in Singapore in 1996. Prior to Seagate, Banks has held management positions with Premier Computer Corporation and Newbury Data Ltd.

Banks earned an HNC in Electronic and Electrical Engineering at South Cheshire College in England.
