Seagate Shipping Cheetah 15K.4 Hard Drives with Serial Attached SCSI to EMEA Distribution Channel

Seagate Technology's Cheetah 15K.4 enterprise-class hard drive, featuring the new Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface, is now available in the EMEA distribution channel. SAS is the serial replacement for parallel SCSI, enabling greater system design flexibility and scalability than ever before. SAS's point-to-point, full-duplex architecture and 3.0 Gb transfer speed, coupled with the Cheetah 15K.4's I/O performance and the most advanced queuing for handling intense enterprise traffic, make possible the fastest storage solutions with the lowest total cost of ownership. Versions of the Cheetah 15.K.4 with the Ultra320 SCSI and Fibre Channel interfaces are already available. The drives are available in capacities of 36, 73 and 147 GB.

Because of their field-proven reliability and award-winning performance, more storage solution providers choose Seagate disc drives as the core technology for their enterprise storage products. Seagate's Cheetah drives are the industry's most widely adopted 15K-rpm hard drives, with over ten million shipped by Seagate since it delivered the world's first 15K-rpm drive in 2001. The Cheetah 15K.4 is the industry's first 15K drive to offer a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) rating of 1.4 million hours at full duty cycles (24/7).

More information about Seagate's Cheetah 15K.4 and the SAS interface is available at the SAS Knowledge Centre (available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish): http://sas.seagatestorage.com
