"The open-source code comprises the fundamental program and drawing of the robots, which can help the students to understand the structure of the robots and how it works," explained Assistant Professor Dr. Witaya Wannasuphoprasit, chairman of Robocup Thailand Championship 2006. "RoboCup can help students be better prepared for future careers in high technology. This competition gives them real-life experience in designing, fabricating and optimizing the robot, which involves many engineering disciplines. It is very similar to the daily practices in today's advanced industrial environments."
Brent Bargmann, vice president of Seagate's Thailand Operations, said the company is pleased to sponsor competitions that expand the educational opportunities of tomorrow's innovators. "The Robocup Championship gives students the opportunity to study, exchange ideas and experiences with others and learn the values of teamwork and innovation-qualities that have been key to Seagate's success as well."
