"The objective of the carnival is to promote a healthy and productive way of life, and through our participation we hope to highlight the benefits of a balanced lifestyle for members of the community," said Jim Chirico, Seagate senior vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific Manufacturing Operations. "These are intrinsic values that have guided Seagate to its current level of success and which we believe can enable young people to attain their full potential."
This is the first carnival organized by Changkat's Partners In Education (PIE) Club, created by school officials and parents of students to foster collaboration and interaction among students, parents and teachers. As part of its support for the carnival, Seagate will be sponsoring all prizes for the games and competitions, as well as provide a 'drinks store.'
David Toh, a senior engineer with Seagate, will be performing a Guzheng solo titled Snow Mountain, Spring Arrival. "I am happy to play a part in Seagate's community endeavors," said Toh. "I'm especially glad that I can contribute by making music. Hopefully my performance will inspire students to take an interest in cultural pursuits."
"We are delighted with Seagate's generosity in supporting our community in this way," said Foo Pee Pee, principal, Changkat Primary School. "Seagate and its employees understand the multifaceted aspects of a positive lifestyle and are providing an opportunity for our students to enrich themselves."
