Seagate Sweeps PC World 2005 World Class Awards for Internal and External Hard Drives

Further strengthening its leadership in hard disc drives, Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX) today announced that it has swept the PC World 2005 World Class Awards for internal and external hard drives as the magazine honored the 400GB Barracuda 7200.8 Serial ATA NCQ and External Hard Drives and the Seagate USB 2.0 Pocket Drive for exemplary design, features, performance, innovation and price.

PC World editors selected the Seagate disc drives for honors from among hundreds of products ranging from hard drives and advanced digital cameras to web browsers and antivirus software. The winners included products that appeared in the magazine over the past year. Seagate won in three key storage categories: Portable Hard Drive, External Hard Drive and Internal Hard Drive.

PC World praised the Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 SATA NCQ 400GB, an internal hard drive, for delivering high performance and the Native Command Queuing feature that "adds to its smarts - and performance potential - in server applications." The Seagate USB 2.0 Pocket Drive won kudos from the magazine as a "device that carries 5GB of data efficiently and safely, letting you carry loads of files on the go." And PC World honored the Seagate USB/FireWire External Hard Drive 400GB as a "breeze to install and use," allowing users to "configure it in a multidrive stack" for easy storage expansion.

The Seagate Pocket Drive ranked 7th on PC World's list of 100 Best Products of 2005, while the Seagate External Hard Drive and Barracuda 7200.8 placed 35th and 45th, respectively.

"The PC World honors are a clear example of how Seagate is outpacing the competition in areas that matter most to customers - innovation, ease of use, performance and capacity," said Jeff Loebbaka, vice president of Global Marketing at Seagate. "We are pleased to be recognized with this prestigious award as we continue to expand the broadest offering of hard drives in the industry."

The World Class Award winners are highlighted in the June 14 issue of PC World. The article is now available at http://find.pcworld.com/48080. More information on the Seagate products is available at www.seagate.com.
