Seagate Technology to Sponsor 19th Annual Crystal Brain Camp for Science and Technology Education

BANGKOK, Thailand - Seagate Technology, the world's leading hard drive company, will sponsor the 19th annual Crystal Brain Camp, in conjunction with Kasetsart University. The camp will be held from April 24 to April 30 at the National Agricultural Support and Training Center, Kampaengsan, Nakorn Pathom province. This marks the eighth straight year Seagate is sponsoring this camp, which provides 200 children between the ages of 10 and 13 with fun, practical educational experiences in science, technology and animation.

"This camp gives children the opportunity to share ideas in designing and developing new things to assist them in their daily activities," said Yeun Poovarawan, vice president of Information Technology at Kasetsart University. "Through our experience in organizing the Crystal Brain Camp, we have seen how it has been a catalyst for encouraging the young to pursue an interest in science and technology."

Brent Bargmann, vice president of Seagate's Thailand operations, added that the company's support of the camp is a reflection of its ongoing commitment to enhancing science and technology educational programs in all its global communities. The company also works closely with government, academic and industry representatives in Thailand to develop college courses that better prepare students for careers in high-technology.

"Our company and our industry is fueled by innovation and technical excellence," Bargmann said. "At Seagate, our engineers and technologists have a passion for learning that began at an early age. By supporting the Crystal Brain Camp's activities, we hope to instill that same foundation in tomorrow's technical innovators."

Some interesting activities, which include a wide variety of techniques in animation creation, robotic assembly, remote control and testing, have been lined up for this camp.
