When resellers purchase any of the eligible Intel Desktop Boards from a participating distributor, they are eligible to purchase a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 hard drive with Serial ATA for the price of a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 hard drive with Parallel ATA. This reseller discount will occur at the time of the purchase, and is subject to the combined purchase of an eligible Intel Desktop Board with an equal number of Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 hard drives and purchased on the same invoice. The promotion is in effect until July 25, 2003.

Seagate's Native Serial ATA architecture enables full Serial ATA transfer speeds up to 150 Mbytes per second and adds no excess components that increase overhead and reduce performance. It uses a point-to-point connection that eliminates device bus sharing, making multi-drive systems work faster, because the full bandwidth of each bus is dedicated to a single hard drive.
Serial ATA uses simple socket-style connectors instead of the old 40-pin connectors. Serial ATA has eliminated the need to set tiny master/slave jumpers on the drive; its thinner, longer cables are easier to route; and hot-plug connectivity can mean greater productivity when configuring a PC system. Serial ATA provides better reliability and improved data integrity for PCs. 32-bit Cyclic Redundancy Checking protects data, command and status information. For system developers, Serial ATA offers 100-percent software compatibility with Parallel ATA for an easy transition.
