Seagate and its Premier Partners Prepare to bring new Enterprise Solutions with Barracuda 7200.9 Disc Drive to Indian Market

Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX), the world's leading supplier of hard disc drives, recently held a Technical Training Program for its Premier Partners who focus on the enterprise segment of the market. The training program was designed to provide these partners with an increased understanding of the applications for new storage technologies like the 3Gb/s and e-SATA drives recently introduced by Seagate.

"Our channel partners address the solution needs of the corporate sector and act as catalysts for change in introducing new technologies. In addition to understanding the current technology and products, they need to be familiar with new, cutting-edge applications that will enable them to better meet the needs of their customers. We have started this program to help our enterprise partners understand the technical innovations that Seagate is bringing to the market so that they can build applications and solutions that give enhanced performance benefits to the users," said Rajesh Khurana, Country Manager for Seagate Technology in India and SAARC.

Participants at the Seagate Technical Training Program included representatives from various regions of the country, including Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhuvneshwar, New Delhi and Bangalore.

Commented participant, R.P. Harish Kumar, Director of Connoiseur Electronics Pvt. Ltd. "It is rare that vendors share their technology road-map with us. The knowledge that Seagate provides helps us plan and execute high-end solutions for our customers who are conducting leading-edge work on the technology platforms that we provide. The training session by Seagate has helped us to plan and design future-proof storage solutions for our customers."

In addition to presentations by Seagate technical engineers, the program also included live demos of some of Seagate's latest innovations, including higher capacities, perpendicular recording drives and retail products. Seagate also briefed its Premier Partners on the market trends and analyst data showing the increasing share of non-computer-based HDD applications.

"Our aim is to ensure that our partners understand the changing usage patterns of customers so they can better prepare and position themselves to create leading edge solutions for the market. We anticipate a growing interest in HDDs by the players engaged in the manufacture and design of new digital products in consumer electronics, which will soon hit the market here. It is an exciting opportunity, and we want to help our channel partners take a lead here as well," said Khurana.
