Seagate to Chair RosettaNet Singapore

Seagate Technology today announced that it will be taking a leading role in extending the RosettaNet standard for B2B supply chain in the electronics industry with the appointment of Tan Woon Kok, Seagate director of Supply Chain Management, as Chairman of Rosettanet (Singapore). Seagate is a member of both RosettaNet US and RosettaNet Singapore. Tan's appointment reaffirms the company's commitment to customer satisfaction through greater flexibility and responsiveness.

RosettaNet (Singapore) is part of the RosettaNet consortium, working to create and implement industry-wide, open e-Business process standards. With support from the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore and the Singapore Productivity and Standards Board, RosettaNet (Singapore) is chartered to promote these standards as a common e-Business language, aligning processes between supply chain partners on a global basis. As the new chairman, Tan will provide leadership to the Steering Committee in building a competency center to create awareness and address differences in business practices and how they will conform to or influence modifications to the global RosettaNet standards.

In his current role at Seagate, Tan is responsible for the Company's Asia Pacific implementation of demand-pull processes, venor-managed inventory and third party logistics initiatives. "Seagate is focused on working with its business partners to keep pace with Internet-driven technological changes," Tan said. "We have adopted RosettaNet's standards with our business partners to provide a common platform for efficient e-Business transactions. Through our role in RosettaNet Singapore, Seagate hopes to enable the IT organizations of global and small/medium-sized enterprises to build e-Business ready supply chains."
