TCL Qualifies Seagate's Momentus Hard Drive For Its Notebook Computers

Seagate (NYSE:STX) today announced that TCL Digital Technology Ltd. has selected the Seagate Momentus notebook disc drive to meet the storage needs of its innovative notebook computers. One of the leading suppliers of notebook computers for the China market, TCL has welcomed Seagate's recent offering of notebook hard drives. Momentus is the industry's first notebook hard drive to combine a high-performance 5,400-rpm spindle speed with the low battery-consumption of a traditional 4200-rpm notebook hard drive, so customers no longer have to choose between performance and mobility. Seagate's patented SoftSonic fluid dynamic motor and new QuietStep ramp load technology make Momentus one of the quietest, most rugged notebook hard drives available.

According to a report by published by in September 2003, notebook PC shipments in China totaled 805,000 in CY2003, an increase of 230,000 units over the previous calendar year.
