Taking the Guesswork out of Choosing a Disc Drive

Seagate has launched a campaign in EMEA to promote its innovative Storage Application Model (SAM), an interactive tool that enables storage purchasers to make better buying decisions based on their applications' requirements. SAM is quick and easy to use and is vendor-independent, giving impartial, independent advice on drive types without reference to particular disc drive manufacturers. It can be downloaded free at www.storageanswers.com/nr/pr and is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Russian and Turkish.

SAM allows storage purchasers to determine the best-fit disc drives for their requirements by taking account of factors such as workload, performance, reliability, form factor, interface and disc drive design. It is another example of Seagate's commitment to provide the tools and resources IT consumers need to get the highest value from their storage solutions.

"All too often purchasers just look at price and capacity when making a purchase decision and can end up with a disc drive that does not allow them to get the best results from their application and lessens the benefits of their overall IT investment," said Hans-Dieter Blaser, Seagate's executive director of EMEA sales and marketing. "SAM enables better choices to be made by everyone who is involved in buying or selling disc drives, from OEMs and major distributors to integrators and end-users. It displays Seagate's commitment to leadership and innovation in the disc drive industry and will, I believe, be of great benefit to our customers."

Seagate is promoting the Storage Application Model with an online advertising campaign running until October.
