The 17th Crystal Brain Camp Kasetsart-Seagate - one of the country's most exciting science and technology camps will be held during April 22 - 28, 2004 at the National Agricultural Support and Training Center, Kampaengsan, Nakorn Pathom province.

Associate Professor Dr. Wirote Impitak, rector of Kasetsart University said, "The 17th Crystal Brain Camp Kasetsart-Seagate is a prime example of cooperation between Kasetsart University and Seagate Technology (Thailand) Limited, creating exciting learning opportunities which will be beneficial for the country's education system and the future of our children."

Supar Phokachaipat, senior director of Corporate Communications, Seagate Technology (Thailand) Limited said, "By taking part in this year's camp, Thai children now have the opportunity to learn from experts on how robots work and how to create, control and manage this interesting technology. To keep up with the rapid change in technological development, it's time for Thai children to be familiar with the robotic mechanisms, which could impact their daily lives. And they will realize that they have the ability to develop these innovative creations themselves."

The 17th Crystal Brain Camp Kasetsart-Seagate will provide children with basic knowledge of robotics technology to inspire future study in this or related fields. The camp also aims to encourage young people to spend their free time maximizing their potential in a creative and thoughtful way, learning to work and cooperate with others as part of a team.

"Seagate has offered full support to this camp for six consecutive years, as we are well aware of the importance of hands-on experience in science and technology, especially for young people," Supar added.

The Crystal Brain Camp was originally developed by a group of Kasetsart University lecturers led by Associate Professor Yeon Phuworawan, based on the extensive research in the area of youth education.

Activities in the 17th Crystal Brain Camp Kasetsart-Seagate include teaching children to think like scientists, learning robot theory, building robots, and other exercise and "edu-tainment" activities.
