Top Environmental Award For Seagate

SPRINGTOWN, Northern Ireland - Environmental Auditing & Quality Assurance (EAQA), an independent accreditation body for Environmental Health and Safety management systems, has awarded ISO14001 accreditation to Seagate Springtown for its world-class environmental management system.

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard, demonstrating company commitment to continuous improvement in environmental performance and compliance with legal and corporate requirements. It provides a dynamic mechanism for the development of effective environmental systems and ensures adoption of a structured approach to encourage evaluation of business environmental aspects, identification of potential and actual environmental risks, and a proactive approach to environmental needs.

Seagate Springtown has invested a significant amount of time and resources to ensure that key areas such as water use, energy and waste management meet the very highest environmental standards.

Seagate has two facilities in Northern Ireland, employing over 1,800 people between them. At the Springtown wafer fabrication facility, the Company develops and manufactures the recording heads, which write information onto and read information from the recording disc inside a computer's hard drive. The Company's Limavady facility produces nickel-plated aluminum substrates, the core material on which computer hard disc drives read, write and store digital information.
