TriGem Names Seagate Best Hard Disc Drive Vendor for 2000

Seagate Technology, Inc. (NYSE: SEG), the world's leading disc drive supplier, today announced that it has been honored with TriGem's Best Hard Disc Drive Vendor 2000 award. The award was presented to Seagate at TriGem's 20th Anniversary Celebration.

"Being singled out as TriGem's Best Hard Disc Drive Vendor at their 20th Anniversary Celebration is indicative of the strong relationships we seek to build with our customers," said Joel Stead, Seagate senior vice president of International Sales & Marketing. "This recognition attests to Seagate's ability to align its business strategy in order to meet our customers' varied product and service needs. Our relationship with TriGem has been of great benefit to both companies, especially with the successful integration of our U Series disc drives in TriGem value-class PCs."

Seagate was chosen for the Best Hard Disc Drive Vendor because of its technology leadership, ability to align with TriGem strategic needs, success in meeting quality standards, customer service and support. Seagate has been doing business with TriGem for more than a decade and has been actively supporting TriGem in its sub-$700 PC market segment.

"With the supply-chain tools they have developed, Seagate has been instrumental in our efforts to deliver sub-$700 desktop PCs." said Paul Lee, vice chairman of TriGem. "Seagate continues to deliver high-quality storage products with greater reliability, speed, performance and lower acoustics, which has really improved the customer experience."

Seagate supplies a comprehensive line of award-winning data storage products to TriGem. These products include the U Series and Barracuda ATA disc drives for desktop PCs, and Barracuda and Cheetah disc drives for workstations and servers. The U Series and Barracuda ATA family of disc drives are widely recognized in the Korean IT market. Some of the press awards and recognition received include: Best Product for Barracuda ATA II (Korean Daily Electronic Times, K-Bench) in June; "next generation HDDa real 7,200 RPM drive with speed and capacity" (Microsoftware Korea, Jan 2000); and a "recommended award" for the U Series (PC Sarang Korea, Jan 2000).

A key OEM of Seagate, TriGem received Seagate's Global strategic Partnership award last September for its strong commitment to customer service and significant contributions to the success of Seagate's U Series disc drive.
